Distractions, Distractions, Distractions!

They are everywhere and if you are not careful distractions can steal your time away from the Lord. That's what happened to me last week.  I allowed the distractions of canning, gardening, errands etc to put off precious time for praying and getting deep into God's Word.
And it starts off innocently.  I tell myself I will do my quiet when I'm done doing this thing or that thing but it doesn't always work like that. Yes I did pray but not my usual deep going to war and don't mess with me devil sort of prayers.

I want to encourage you my friends to watch out for those little "innocent " distractions that can and will rob you of your time with the Lord.

Update on Me

I apologize for not being  active lately. I have had a writers block of sorts.  Anyway, it's been rather interesting since I have made a war room. The first week I suffered depression for no particular reason. That was very odd. A long time homeschooling mom I knew in Santa Barbara passed away, I discovered two people I know have serious health issues, a blog  I follow has been inundated with terrible anti-Christian comments over a recent post and it the list goes on.
I guess I should have expected weirdness to happen but all this just makes me more determined to pray.
Tomorrow is canning day for me. I plan to put away a few jars of pinto beans. They are great for making homemade refried beans. I hope to get over to Walmart and pick up a few pounds of boneless chicken. I want to put away some for chicken salad in the summer and soup in the fall.
I hope to plant some green beans this weekend or perhaps next. Well that's it my friends.
Until next time!

Mother's Day Can Be Difficult

First of all I want to wish you ladies a Happy Mother's Day.
But Mothers Day can be very difficult for many reasons. There are women who desperately want to be mothers but God hasn't  given them neither biological children nor through adopted children.
There are  mothers who are estranged from their children so they will not get calls or cards on Mother's Day. There are mothers who have children who have passed away so there is a hole in their hearts. Some of us have moms in heaven and for some people this is their first Mother's Day without their mom. I'm reminded of blogger  Mandy Kelly as some of you know died in a house fire on March 21st including  her husband Scott, and two youngest children, Lizzie and Judah. They left behind two young teens Bekah and Jared. Let's remember them  today in prayer because these teens will also experience Father's  Day without their dad.

Today let's remember to be thankful for the blessings God has bestowed upon us.
