Happy New Year!

Can you believe it really is 2012? Time sure does fly!
Well as usual I post some of  my goals for 2012 that Lord willing I will achieve this year. Here they are in no particular order:
  • Draw closer to the Lord by reflecting on what He has done in my life and the lives of my family members and by devoting more time to His word and prayer.
  • Read the entire Bible in a year. This is over and above the assigned reading in the Beside the Still Waters devotion book and scheduled reading in 1 Corinthians  when Pastor starts the series at the end of January. There will be a study guide with lessons that correspond with what he will be preaching on the following Sunday.
  • Read one account each week of a faithful martyr from The Martyrs Mirror. Reading these accounts makes me appreciate the freedoms I have to worship the Lord freely without persecution. The stories also encourage my heart even though many of the accounts are hard to read because of the graphic nature described  of their suffering.
  • Get my house more organized and cleaned, Right now it is a complete mess but I hope to change all that.
  • Improve my homeschooling skills
  • Spend less time in front of the television. I'm really starting to really hate television so I'm hoping this to spend less time and I want to encourage my family to do the same
  • Practice my alto recorder at least four times a week
  • Do some sewing a least twice a month if not more. I'm afraid this is all I can realistically do. I don't sew very well but I want to try to do more sewing. This will help to increase my skills so that I'm not fearful of trying something new.
That's it and so Lord willing I will have accomplished all of these at the end of the year.

WARNING: Some Parts of This Post Is Controversial!

I wonder what would happen if men had a march similar to the recent women's marches demanding their right not to be exposed to half dressed women in the workplace, in church, on the street, on magazine covers, etc? What if they marched demanding their right to be treated like men and not a child by their wives and girlfriends? To be allowed to be a dad instead of their child being killed in the womb? To not be portrayed on television and movies as idiots?

What would happen if they  wore (like inappropriately shaped hats the women wore on their heads to prove their womanhood ) on their heads inappropriately  shaped hats to prove their manhood?

Satan has been telling lies to women ever since The Garden:

" I can wear this see through dress! It's my body!"

"It's his problem if my low cut blouse causes him to lust"

"It's not a baby, it's tissue! It's my body!"

"Motherhood degrades women"

"We don't  need to submit to …

I married the love of my life. Back then I couldn't see 25 years into the future. I never imagined having three daughters.  We didn't anticipate struggles on both our parts but we are so grateful for the way the Lord has brought us through. Things are not perfect between but we continue to trust God and know that He can work things out.
And now for your giggling pleasure, here are a few pictures from our wedding. This was before I was into a conservative plain lifestyle. Sorry for the blurriness.

The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today

Looking out my window  ...It has stopped snowing. It's been a mixture of snow, hail and rain today and it is very cold and windy out.
I am thinking... about whether I should prayerfully and gently confront a sister in the Lord who is being dishonest about something, though I hoped I had imagined it, sadly today I discovered it was true.☹
I am thankful... We made it home safely today after going into town and getting caught in the snowstorm. God is good!
One of my favorite things... is to read Keepers at Home magazine

I am wearing... a purple flowered dress covered up by my apron and black slippers

I am creating... well I will be sewing up some hanging veil head coverings. Some of the ones I have are getting stained. My middle daughter suggested I save my white veils for church or other church related activities. My husband suggested that I keep the stained ones for when I clean the house. They are so wise in their suggestions…
