Spiritual Look Back

I've been thinking about my spiritual life from the time I got saved and where I'm at now. I saw a YouTube video of my former pastor at the church( Pentecostal) I was going to. He was a brilliant man of God. He's with the Lord now but I wish I had gotten to know him better. I was still very much a baby Christian when I was attending so I was very confused about doctrinal matters but I didn't ask my pastor any questions about anything that the church taught.

I eventually left that church because I had moved too far away and no one lived near my new apartment. The church I started attending (Foursquare) was very different from what I was used. It was a mostly white congregation and my old church was all black. I was also used to the pastor wearing a robe and this one did not. After attending for awhile  it seemed like a good fit. The pastor was great and was knowledgeable about the Bible. I left that church because I moved out 300 miles away and church was the hardest for me to leave but God had other plans for me.
Anyway, I went to many different churches and through all my Christian life.  Since then I have learned that one should always check a church's teachings and if it doesn't line up with scripture then it is better to find one that does.

We attend an awesome  Baptist church with excellent teaching and the members are just wonderful people to be around. They love the Lord and each other. I can't begin to tell you how much this church has been a blessing to us and how much of a blessing it is to serve others.
More later!

  1. Very, very true. If it's not teaching sound Biblically based theology, it's not going to help you grow and thrive.

We're blessed to have the same kind of warm, doctrinally sound church as you. It is indeed a great blessing.

How's your fam, by the way?
    Hope all is well.

  2. The church we just joined requires you to go to a couple classes to learn about the church and their doctrine before you can become members. Then every so often they have a membership Sunday where you agree to several things and I thought that was wonderful too. These vows are good christian principles. It is an assembly of God church. Blessings!

WARNING: Some Parts of This Post Is Controversial!

I wonder what would happen if men had a march similar to the recent women's marches demanding their right not to be exposed to half dressed women in the workplace, in church, on the street, on magazine covers, etc? What if they marched demanding their right to be treated like men and not a child by their wives and girlfriends? To be allowed to be a dad instead of their child being killed in the womb? To not be portrayed on television and movies as idiots?

What would happen if they  wore (like inappropriately shaped hats the women wore on their heads to prove their womanhood ) on their heads inappropriately  shaped hats to prove their manhood?

Satan has been telling lies to women ever since The Garden:

" I can wear this see through dress! It's my body!"

"It's his problem if my low cut blouse causes him to lust"

"It's not a baby, it's tissue! It's my body!"

"Motherhood degrades women"

"We don't  need to submit to …

I married the love of my life. Back then I couldn't see 25 years into the future. I never imagined having three daughters.  We didn't anticipate struggles on both our parts but we are so grateful for the way the Lord has brought us through. Things are not perfect between but we continue to trust God and know that He can work things out.
And now for your giggling pleasure, here are a few pictures from our wedding. This was before I was into a conservative plain lifestyle. Sorry for the blurriness.

The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today

Looking out my window  ...It has stopped snowing. It's been a mixture of snow, hail and rain today and it is very cold and windy out.
I am thinking... about whether I should prayerfully and gently confront a sister in the Lord who is being dishonest about something, though I hoped I had imagined it, sadly today I discovered it was true.☹
I am thankful... We made it home safely today after going into town and getting caught in the snowstorm. God is good!
One of my favorite things... is to read Keepers at Home magazine

I am wearing... a purple flowered dress covered up by my apron and black slippers

I am creating... well I will be sewing up some hanging veil head coverings. Some of the ones I have are getting stained. My middle daughter suggested I save my white veils for church or other church related activities. My husband suggested that I keep the stained ones for when I clean the house. They are so wise in their suggestions…
