Something on My Heart

Before you read this post any further I need to warn you that what I write in this post may be sensitive to some readers. Consider yourself warned.

I'm deeply concerned about the level of immodesty I'm seeing in young women, teen girls and even little girls.

Sunday at church there was a little girl about 7 or 8 years of age dressed in an outfit you would normally see on a teen girl. Why are clothing designers trying to make our little girls, some who are still playing with baby dolls look sexy?

I know I have failed many times in the area of modesty when it comes to my own daughters. I want to please the Lord and to be honest I think it would be so much easier if I had been raised in a plain church. Of course that is probably an excuse because I know people who are not attending a plain church but they still have a standard for modesty.

I love the way Conservative Mennonite cape dresses look and they are so comfortable to wear. They probably are old fashioned and frumpy looking to most people but I really don't care. They don't make one look "holier than thou" but of course there are some people who believe that is the case.

What kind of message are we sending when we get dressed in the morning?
I really had much more to say (Remember the warning in the beginning of this post?) but I decided it was just too sensitive for my younger readers.

  1. Sister Regina, you have expressed my precise sentiments. The sad thing is that if you asked their parents if what they were wearing was wrong they would say no. "it's cute" They need to read 1 Timothy 2:9

  2. Sister Regina -

I agree with you completely!!!! When I see the outfits that are for sale for young girls I keep thinking to myself that if we ever have a daughter, I'm going to have to make her clothes for her.

  3. Hello Regina,

I have been reading back in your posts and after reading this one I thought you might like a link to a page that is a modest clothing directory of places that sell modest clothing. I looked at some of the stores and found some things I really like.

    Here is the link:

The blog is no longer being written on but the page of links is working.

Thanks for your blog! Bless you!

WARNING: Some Parts of This Post Is Controversial!

I wonder what would happen if men had a march similar to the recent women's marches demanding their right not to be exposed to half dressed women in the workplace, in church, on the street, on magazine covers, etc? What if they marched demanding their right to be treated like men and not a child by their wives and girlfriends? To be allowed to be a dad instead of their child being killed in the womb? To not be portrayed on television and movies as idiots?

What would happen if they  wore (like inappropriately shaped hats the women wore on their heads to prove their womanhood ) on their heads inappropriately  shaped hats to prove their manhood?

Satan has been telling lies to women ever since The Garden:

" I can wear this see through dress! It's my body!"

"It's his problem if my low cut blouse causes him to lust"

"It's not a baby, it's tissue! It's my body!"

"Motherhood degrades women"

"We don't  need to submit to …

I married the love of my life. Back then I couldn't see 25 years into the future. I never imagined having three daughters.  We didn't anticipate struggles on both our parts but we are so grateful for the way the Lord has brought us through. Things are not perfect between but we continue to trust God and know that He can work things out.
And now for your giggling pleasure, here are a few pictures from our wedding. This was before I was into a conservative plain lifestyle. Sorry for the blurriness.

For Today

Looking out my window  ...It has stopped snowing. It's been a mixture of snow, hail and rain today and it is very cold and windy out.
I am thinking... about whether I should prayerfully and gently confront a sister in the Lord who is being dishonest about something, though I hoped I had imagined it, sadly today I discovered it was true.☹
I am thankful... We made it home safely today after going into town and getting caught in the snowstorm. God is good!
One of my favorite things... is to read Keepers at Home magazine

I am wearing... a purple flowered dress covered up by my apron and black slippers

I am creating... well I will be sewing up some hanging veil head coverings. Some of the ones I have are getting stained. My middle daughter suggested I save my white veils for church or other church related activities. My husband suggested that I keep the stained ones for when I clean the house. They are so wise in their suggestions…
