Being Thankful and Treats From God

This Thanksgiving I have a lot to be thankful for. I'm thankful I have the Lord in my life to guide me. I'm so very thankful for my husband and three daughters. I'm so thankful for our new house that the Lord directed us to.  I find it overwhelming sometimes how God has blessed us. The free furniture we got was extra special. One of the things the sellers left for us for free was a dinette set for seating for four. This works great since there are currently just four of us but we will have four extra people for early Thanksgiving on Monday. I was pondering this last Friday and was wondering where we would buy four extra chairs. Well that Saturday we needed to get the remainder of our stuff out of the U-Haul storage facility. They have a section where people can leave unwanted items or you can take something someone else has left. . It's a nice way to reduce waste. Well would you believe someone left four dining room chairs? They don't match our set but it doesn't matter! We can seat extra people now. We were so excited to say the least.

There are times when God gives His children gifts that we might not realize that are gifts. Did you catch Monday's super moon? We love how the Lord showed His power. The moon was absolutely beautiful that night. At 7:00 the next morning our youngest daughter knocked on our door because she wanted us to see the moon. It was still shining so brightly and beautiful. I'm 55 years old and that was my first time ever seeing a moonset. I again consider it a treat from the Lord. Even the rabbit that I told you about in my last post is a treat from Him.
We've never lived in an area where we see such wildlife. So what are you thankful for? What little treats from the Lord have you experienced?

  1. How wonderful! God is amazing like that, isn't He?
I wish you the happiest Thanksgiving, Regina!

  2. I'm so happy to hear about the gift God sent your way!
Here's a little story about something that happened recently to us:
We were planning a trip for the dual purposes of having a vacation and visiting family. However, we rarely have extra money after all the bills get paid; sometimes, though, there is a little left over from my husband's small side business (which is his 2nd, part-time job). So, I began to pray to God that He would provide enough extra work for my husband so that he could make between 500 and 600 dollars for our trip. Unknown to me, my husband was praying something similar. Calls for work kept coming in -- more than usual -- and by the time we were ready to leave on our trip, we had $700 extra! We were so happy, and we both felt like spoiled little children!
Yes, we spent all the money on our trip, and it turned out to be just right; we even managed to have all the bills paid.
So, that's my story about what God has been doing recently to show us His goodness. Probably not too long from now, I'll have another story to add.

Thanks for this post, Regina; I really liked it!

WARNING: Some Parts of This Post Is Controversial!

I wonder what would happen if men had a march similar to the recent women's marches demanding their right not to be exposed to half dressed women in the workplace, in church, on the street, on magazine covers, etc? What if they marched demanding their right to be treated like men and not a child by their wives and girlfriends? To be allowed to be a dad instead of their child being killed in the womb? To not be portrayed on television and movies as idiots?

What would happen if they  wore (like inappropriately shaped hats the women wore on their heads to prove their womanhood ) on their heads inappropriately  shaped hats to prove their manhood?

Satan has been telling lies to women ever since The Garden:

" I can wear this see through dress! It's my body!"

"It's his problem if my low cut blouse causes him to lust"

"It's not a baby, it's tissue! It's my body!"

"Motherhood degrades women"

"We don't  need to submit to …

I married the love of my life. Back then I couldn't see 25 years into the future. I never imagined having three daughters.  We didn't anticipate struggles on both our parts but we are so grateful for the way the Lord has brought us through. Things are not perfect between but we continue to trust God and know that He can work things out.
And now for your giggling pleasure, here are a few pictures from our wedding. This was before I was into a conservative plain lifestyle. Sorry for the blurriness.

For Today

Looking out my window  ...It has stopped snowing. It's been a mixture of snow, hail and rain today and it is very cold and windy out.
I am thinking... about whether I should prayerfully and gently confront a sister in the Lord who is being dishonest about something, though I hoped I had imagined it, sadly today I discovered it was true.☹
I am thankful... We made it home safely today after going into town and getting caught in the snowstorm. God is good!
One of my favorite things... is to read Keepers at Home magazine

I am wearing... a purple flowered dress covered up by my apron and black slippers

I am creating... well I will be sewing up some hanging veil head coverings. Some of the ones I have are getting stained. My middle daughter suggested I save my white veils for church or other church related activities. My husband suggested that I keep the stained ones for when I clean the house. They are so wise in their suggestions…
