Symptoms of a Heart Attack

With the recent sudden passing of Tom Petty at age  66. I thought it would be a good idea to alert you to the signs of a heart attack. Most of you know my husband Tim had a heart attack in January. He knows it would have been a different story if he chose to ignore the symptoms. My dad passed away in 1984 from a heart attack he didn't realize what was happening.

Signs of a heart attack from The American Heart Society:
1. Chest discomfort often described as squeezing, pressure, fullness or pain that lasts for a few minutes and comes back.

2. Discomfort in other areas of the body such one or both arms, back, neck, and jaw

3. Shortness of breath with or without chest discomfort

4. Lightheadedness, breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or vomiting

It's also very important to know that women's heart attack symptoms may not include chest pain but the above symptoms are there. They may also  experience fainting ,upper back pressure or extreme pressure.

Make sure you know these signs and your loved ones too.  Even if you are not sure  its a heart attack call 911 anyway. It's better to appear silly than to just ignore the symptoms and suffer loss of life.
