Tim's Heart Attack

I shared last week my husband had a heart attack and since then I find my faith has been shaken. My mind is full of what ifs. What if Tim had died? What if he has another heart attack?
I know the Lord is watching over us. I know it was the prayers of family and friends who got him through this.

Needless to say, his heart attack has changed our lives forever. It has caused us to reevaluate our eating habits. Now this is not going to be easy. I bought a couple of Christian healthy cookbooks from the company that publishes Keepers at Home magazine. One is called  Healthy Choices which is full of recipes from Keepers at Home subscribers and the other one is Good and Healthy Cooking by Amanda and Marie Stoltzfus. Both cookbooks have recipes with no sugar, white flour and no artificial ingredients.
So begins my quest for a healthier family.

  1. Praying for your husband's (and family's)health, as well as your peace of mind. You can do this!

My own DH has Polycystic Kidney Disease, stage 4, and we have had to make changes. The future can be uncertain, but in the words of a (now passed) young man from our church, God's got me! And He has YOU, too. Hugs.

  2. Praying for you as you start this new adventure in meal preparations, Regina. I can certainly understand the what if's land that you have found yourself in since your husband's heart attack. I went through a similar time after my husband fell ten feet off our house roof in September. Praying for you.

  3. I can understand that fear, I really can. I almost talked my Jack out of his first colonoscopy. If he had listened it would have been very bad as he had polyps one stage away from cancer. I am sure praying for you guys, We made a lot of changes in our eating habits as well because we are both diabetic now. We have both managed to lose weight and feel a lot better.

  4. Hi, Regina - I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's heart attack. It sounds like you are starting the right path to better eating habits. I do still have some of the Blue Apron Meals to give away. Will you please send me your name and email address at stone.cottage.adv (at) -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures

  5. Father God, I pray for complete healing and restoration for Tim. I pray for faith and hope and trust for Regina. Give her your SHALOM peace. Perfect peace. Nothing broken. Nothing Missing.

    Philippians 4 my dear.

    With a hug,
    Laura of Harvest Lane Cottage

  6. I pray for you with all my heart. Marlène from France.

  7. Dear Regina. What a difficult week or so for you and your husband. Little changes, big changes in lifestyle....I pray that the Lord directs every step of your 'next thing'. From another praying one, D.

  8. Blessings to you on this journey - and I pray for peace for you as well! Changing a diet and lifestyle of eating isn't the easiest - but can be done. I'm had to implement many major changes in diet in the last years... sigh. Hang in there! God is faithful!

WARNING: Some Parts of This Post Is Controversial!

I wonder what would happen if men had a march similar to the recent women's marches demanding their right not to be exposed to half dressed women in the workplace, in church, on the street, on magazine covers, etc? What if they marched demanding their right to be treated like men and not a child by their wives and girlfriends? To be allowed to be a dad instead of their child being killed in the womb? To not be portrayed on television and movies as idiots?

What would happen if they  wore (like inappropriately shaped hats the women wore on their heads to prove their womanhood ) on their heads inappropriately  shaped hats to prove their manhood?

Satan has been telling lies to women ever since The Garden:

" I can wear this see through dress! It's my body!"

"It's his problem if my low cut blouse causes him to lust"

"It's not a baby, it's tissue! It's my body!"

"Motherhood degrades women"

"We don't  need to submit to …

I married the love of my life. Back then I couldn't see 25 years into the future. I never imagined having three daughters.  We didn't anticipate struggles on both our parts but we are so grateful for the way the Lord has brought us through. Things are not perfect between but we continue to trust God and know that He can work things out.
And now for your giggling pleasure, here are a few pictures from our wedding. This was before I was into a conservative plain lifestyle. Sorry for the blurriness.

For Today

Looking out my window  ...It has stopped snowing. It's been a mixture of snow, hail and rain today and it is very cold and windy out.
I am thinking... about whether I should prayerfully and gently confront a sister in the Lord who is being dishonest about something, though I hoped I had imagined it, sadly today I discovered it was true.☹
I am thankful... We made it home safely today after going into town and getting caught in the snowstorm. God is good!
One of my favorite things... is to read Keepers at Home magazine

I am wearing... a purple flowered dress covered up by my apron and black slippers

I am creating... well I will be sewing up some hanging veil head coverings. Some of the ones I have are getting stained. My middle daughter suggested I save my white veils for church or other church related activities. My husband suggested that I keep the stained ones for when I clean the house. They are so wise in their suggestions…
